Getting Started

I start with a free 15 minute consultations with each of my clients. This allows us to spend a few minutes talking about what brings you to therapy, talk about your goals, decide if we’re a good fit, and schedule our first session.

It can be overwhelming to start therapy. Here are some steps to follow…

1. What are some reasons you want to start therapy?

Give some thought to the reasons that have led you to look into therapy. What first made you start thinking about therapy? Have you been in therapy before? How was your previous experience? How do you hope therapy might be helpful to you right now? What expectations or hopes do you have for therapy?

2. What is important to you as you choose a therapist?

What factors do you care about? What are you hoping to find? Are you looking for a particular approach? Not every therapist is the right fit for every client. There are many types of therapist out there and it may take some time to find the right one for you.

3. Start with one session

Going to your first appointment can be nerve wracking - but remember that it does not commit you to anything. This is an opportunity to talk with the therapist and explore how comfortable you feel with them. Do you have a good connection? Can you see yourself feeling more relaxed with them over time? Are you on the same page about what you want therapy to be?

Don’t let finances be a barrier…

  • I offer scholarships for incomes up to $110,000.

  • If you have insurance, your sessions are also likely reimbursable as out-of-network care.

  • I also accept a limited number of clients through in-network insurance. The plans I am in-network with include Aetna, Oscar Health, Oxford, and United Healthcare. To be eligible for use of in-network benefits, you must have an income below $85,000. Feel free to inquire whether I have current insurance openings.
